I am about 7,000 words into a ~15,000 word dissertation for my degree, I am pretty much eating, sleeping and working on the damn thing. It's due in a week's time, and I'll have a few days breathing room before I have to revise for my four exams ...maybe I'll go take some photos then.

These photos are from a day spent in a field last June. I took a few random photos of the abandoned industrial farm equipment and other surrounding objects, and a friend of mine took photos of me shooting:

I started archery about 4 years ago as it was one of the only university societies that interested me at first. It was exciting and had a fairly challenging learning curve, not to mention that my dad had a very nice professional bow for me to use.

My other half used to do archery as a kid, until he really hurt himself (ripped a tendon in his wrist and has never gone back). I shall have to show them the pics, he'll get nostalgic.

dude that is a long report. The longest paper ive ever done was around 2,500. I can't believe that it's possible for a teacher to grade papers that long. By the time they collect everyone's work, they have a stack of papers that equals a fat ass novel. good luck though.

Well it's not difficult to physically shoot the arrow of course, but to hit the target THAT far away is impressive. I used to do archery every summer as a kid, pretty much shot at a target less than half that.
I've always sucked with the bow.

Cool, I used to do some archery back in the day. My biggest issue is that I'm not very strong, and the pullback strength on my bow was like 85lbs. So I had quite a few issues pulling it back and holding it long enough to aim.

Nice bow, and I feel you on the thesis. I wrote my prelim exam just over a year ago (52 pages single-spaced) and it sucked 1 whole month of my life down the drain.

my mates recently got right into professional archery and crossbows, he often makes his own, and holy moly theyre powerful! i had a go at using one once and i have to say it felt pretty good haha

... lol, these pictures makes me miss my bow and arrows. I used to do archery as a young man. Where I live now there is no straight piece of yard long enough to shoot. Unless it is plastic with a suction cup at the end.

Ironically, this is perfect timing. I'm actually really excited because I should be picking up a long bow from a friend of mine who has to switch from a right handed bow to a left handed (long story).

Dude it would be cool to read that dissertation since you've been spending so much time on it. I used to be pretty good at archery, but I haven't been down to a range in the past 4 years. Work has a way of getting in the way I guess.

very cool. I've always liked archery. We'd have a week course about it every year in grade school. It was pretty great. That sort of club is unheard of in colleges around here though, far as I know.
